Just wondering if any of you midi freaks have ever tried using a Lexicon MRC to run the 2480 transport. I have a version 4, but I'm really ignorant about sysex stuff, and wondering if I'd be wasting my time. thanks, Bop

wow, talk about a product long since forgotten. I used to use a pair of these live in my midi rig when I was touring for "Joseph". Are you trying to use this remotely, such as in another room for recording? It's been years since I used the MRC's, didn't these only have faders?

4 faders and 4 buttons and supports a 10 byte sysex word. Also has a numeric keypad, page button and four function buttons. This one was thrown in with an LXP-1 I picked up.
There was a thread a month or two back to do with getting a little distance between mics and the 2480. Maybe this might be a way?
With a video monitor extension and the four buttons programed to rec, start, stop rwnd and maybe a fader set up as the jog wheel it might be pretty handy.
It would be easier to use than a mouse, at least for a guitar player, but if it's going to take a ton of research, I may not bother.
What do you think?

You know....just for kicks I thought I would throw this in here to see if it might work. I honestly have never tried to do anything like this, and I don't know if the VS2480 will receive MMC (Midi Machine Control). But check this little thing out....

Brad, I'm going to mess with this when I get some time. The VS has options for turning on Sysex receive, and local control off. Also, when I first installed the RPC-1 I had the 2480 slaved to Cubase and it worked quite well that way, so I'm guessing that it should receive MMC with no problem, but this is about the limit of my Sysex understaning, at this point. I was hoping that Falcon or Dot might have some words of wisdom on this, but so far no joy. If I can get it to work, you can be sure I'll post the announcement. The Cooper piece looks really interesting but a little too pricey to find it's way to the top of my priority list at the moment. Cheers, Bop
