Hi guys,
I have successfully got my Aux 3 signal flowing out to my Lexicon MPX 1, and I've got the return coming back via digital Coax, then to inputs 23/24 with the stereo effect return seemingly going into the master mix.
So far so good.
But what I cannot do is find a way to control the return level using the FX return faders.
I am clearly not routing the return correctly.
In the Ch Edit screen of FX return fader three it says it is assigned to Aux 3, but no signal seems to reach it.
I've tried to fathom it out with the manual but have failed.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks!
Martin

Hi Martin, The FX return faders are for the internal VS8F-2(and soon to be -3)cards FX returns. I have an MPX500 connected via coax as well. I use Aux Sends 5 & 6 for my sends to the Lexicon. Since I only have two FX cards at the time, in the first two slots, Auxes 5/6 & 7/8 are always available.(I believe if I had cards in slots 3 and 4, but were using them as insert FX, I could still use their Aux Sends for outboard gear, is that right guys?) When using external gear, in the Patchbay I just route from the inputs to whichever linked Input Mixer channel pair I want, and control the returns from those channel's faders. Hope I'm understanding your question.

Yes Kavish, you understood precisely. I had thought you could assign FX return faders to any Aux bus - internal or external. But I guess I was wrong.
So you don't link the return signal to tracks, just to a pair of inputs, and control from the input faders?
Thanks for the reply.

Bisk you are indeed the man. But, call me dumb, I can't find the relevant place on your sperb site: can you direct me?
Thanks,
Martin

OK - well I've got it going beautifully using the same routing as Kavish. Fantastic! Once you see the light with this Aux business it makes sense and the internal and external effects suddenly become very easy to manage.
Excellent - and thank you guys for your help (still couldn't find the external effects section on your site, though, Bisk...

I'm using it as a loop return for multiple channels at the moment, but I understand what you're saying about insert / recording to track options.
Thank you again.
