Does anyone still have a copy of the 840 up1 2.05 available? The most recent link is no longer available for download.

The Roland website does not list a version 2.05 for the 840. It appears the latest version is 1.05. this is still available.

There are later updates available for the 840EX and -GX.

Even tho this thread is now long silent, in the event that someone is reading this, if you look at the very first post in this thread, the user wrote that the desired version of the OS is in fact 840EX, not 840.
The OS version on the Roland site for the EX is 2.05, so the upgrade as outlined can still be accomplished (assuming same hardware parts are available.)

Hello, friends!
A video has appeared on how to give a second life to the Roland vs840ex,
showing all the necessary parts to replace the zip disk with a CF card.
This video also shows you how to transfer tracks from Roland vs. 840 on a PC to a wav file using the BR-8 WAV CONVERTER SOFTWARE FOR PC program.
With this program, you can not only convert tracks on your PC but also download the created tracks in 16-bit 44100 Hz format
from any music editor and open them on Roland vs. 840.
