I would like to use a High-Pass Filter when going to track. Since the effects board itself does not have one labeled as such, what is the best way to go? I had previously been using some of the presets like "Rock Kick" as an insert when tracking, assuming it had a default pass or shelving somewhere in it just to get rid of rumbly stuff that was an undesirable part of the signal. My little Soundcraft board has a high pass, but I really like to go direct into the Roland to cut down on cable capacitance etc. (Also don't have enoungh busses out of the soundcraft to do more than 2 channels out. Whaddaya think? Whaddaya know?

stereo multi has shelf and peak choices on both low and high bands. this could be used as two single eq's, since it's a stereo effect and can be inserted as a Left or Right mono effect.

It's been a long time since I've recorded anything into the 1680, but give that a shot........ or any other effect listed in the appendices manual that has an eq section with shelf/peak selections.

Hope that does it for you.

Record without, print afterwards using stereo multi. I don't get what you mean with cable capacitance, as the out of your mixer should drive the cable capacitance easily. It might even give you a better gain stageing, as that's the way a cheap pre has best use with the VS...

The MTK comps have Bass cuts aka "high pass filters". It goes from 30Hz all the way up to 2000k.
