Hello guys!
I'm own VS1824CD gear and want to record my band live session.
Before I've just recorded 2-5 tracks at once, so wasn't aware about this.
But today I've tried to arm all 8 tracks for record and it failed.
Any, but just six channels are arming (blinks red), but when I try to arm seventh its indicator just switches from mute (doesn't lit) to play (green) mode.
If anybody can help, please give me advise!
Cheers
Oleg

Is your Recording Mode set to MAS?

from the 1824cd appendices -
When set the Record Mode to except “MAS” or “CDR,” up to
18 tracks can be played back simultaneously and 8 tracks can
be recorded simultaneously. However, when also set the
Sample Rate to “48 kHz” or set the Vari Pitch to “On,” up to
6 tracks can be recorded simultaneously.

In other words, either use 44.1k sample rate in MAS or CDR record mode, or switch to a different record mode - MTP is an excellent record mode and records in 24bit and you still get 8 track simultaneous recording at 48k, with total playback tracks allowed as well.

The only possible drawback is that it takes longer to burn an audio CD from that setup.

If you're not using the CDR record mode, specifically, or you don't care about making an audio CD direct from the 1824, then I highly recommend trying MTP mode.

Thanks for the reply!
I use MTP mode always, so it is not the case.
Anyway I'll try to diminish the samplerate to try.

wish I knew what to suggest -
is it possible that you already have a total of 8 tracks armed and just don't realize it? Sorry - that's a silly question probably, but sillier things have happened.

Can you arm 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, or some combination of only the paired channels by chance, instead of 1-6?
