Hi All,
Can someone explain how to send 8 tracks of audio out through one of the RBUS connections?

Thus far I have only recorded audio from an external source into my VS 2480 through the RBUS port. I used Bear's adat to rbus converter.

I should be able to do the reverse.
OUT of the VS2480 RBUS port
IN Bear's RBUS to ADAT converter
OUT the ADAT end of Bear's RBUS to ADAT converter
IN to 8 channel ADAT port of a device (X)
OUT of device (X) to a laptop or desktop

What device (X) should I be considering in 2018?

Is there a proven device that is ADAT input to USB or Firewire that someone here uses?

I just don't want to do 2 track recording out. I want a way to record 8 tracks digitally at once from the VS2480. This will minimize time considerably.

I almost purchased a vfire but think it may be too complicated. Just want to get the WAVs to people quickly. I do not mind using REAPER.

Thanks,
Ian

Go to Ez routing, select page "output" and connect via aux/dir busses your Rbus out.
Or google ez routing vs2480 and select pictures to look for some examples.
Good luck :-)

I'm doing it exactly as Kees describes, except I have two RPC-1 cards so 2 RBUS in/outs from my VS-2480 to my computer. I run it into REAPER. I only just started doing this, as it took a bit of fruitful hunting around the Planet members to get a 64bit driver for the M Audio (thanks again BmC).
SO on the OUTPUT ASSIGN (upper right) part of EZ ROUTING, I have RBUS 1 outs 1-8 connected to 1/2, 3/4,,,to 7/8...then RBUS 2 outs 1-8 connected to DIR 1/2....to 7/8.
That's it.
I've also connected the RBUS 1+2 in the PATCH BAY (upper left). ,,,using tracks 9-24 connected 1-8 on each RBUS. Make sure you click the SELECT coloured buttons to correspond with the RBUS input tracks. I leave the COAX and OPT IN unconnected.
cheers

@ Ricco, thanks for the info. Regarding your rpc-1, does that PCI card fit in modern desptops or have you had to keep it in an older model computer?

@Kees thanks for the input.

Has anyone on the planet tried to use this product for modern ADAT connection MiniDSP USBStreamer B

Hi Cane_fire Ian: I don't know the answer to your question....re: if the RPC-1will fit in newer computers.
The computer I'm using the cards in is 9 years old, and running Win 7 Pro 64bit with 8GB ram and Intel Core 2 Duo at
3.00GHz with 200GB HD.
Seems to do the job for what I'm asking of it. I have the latest REAPER install. But I'm still very much a rookie with it.
Cheers

The RPC-1 won't fit PCIe equipped machines.

Audient ID 14 is excellent and allows 8ch ADAT. I use it in my small office studio where I mostly write and compose. In my live room I use RME Raydat, capable of 32ch ADAT, it is pricey but also excellent.
