There are sixteen 1/4" TRS (phone plug) inputs (#16 can be switched to Hi-Z).
There are eight XLR (mic) inputs.
It can also accept "R-Bus" (Roland proprietary) inputs (six, I think).
Is that what you needed?

8 inputs on the RBUS ( we use the rack for I/O of our effects ) We have dual TSR snakes in the 16 inputs --- and we use the SPDIF input for our preamps

Actually C Jo Go, you can have 16 inputs of digital coming from the R-BUS if you use both R-BUS 1 & R-BUS 2.

Since with the 2 RBUS connections you can record 16 inputs, does that mean you could use 8 of the onboard input to record at the same time as the RBUS connections, giving you 24 inputs simultaneously?

16 analog
16 R-BUS
32 total options BUT the input mixer maxes out at 24 channels
(plus stereo SPDIF coaxial or optical)
(the 16 analog inputs all have 1/4 inch jacks, 8 of them also have XLR jacks)
You get fewer than 24 simultaneously if you move to higher resolution recording modes.

Yes , many inputs ...
But note that you can "only" record maximum 16 channels at once ( in MTP mode )
Still pretty good for this old machinery and compared to modern computers and
interfaces / sound cards ..... Or ???

Yeah, OK ... But still only 16 channels can be recorded at once 
If you dont have 2 ( or more ) VS-2480īs , then you can record
32 channels at once ( or more ) if you want to ......
Just trying to clarify for the OP
If that was his question ..... Not quite sure what he asked about

The inputs able to be recorded simultaneously was the question.
16 at a time then, no matter from which input they originate, RBUS or others.
