Excellent. Why do you have to wait a few weeks to get the injections?

Good news to you Falcon! I also have an AAA. Mine is located just before the split into each leg. Mine is at 4.7 cm. My vascular surgeon says they wait until it is at a 5.5 cm before implementing surgery.

Sounds encouraging. Beams a-beaming.
What sort of injections are you getting in your hand? My wife suffers from arthritis in her knees, and doesn’t want to have surgery. She got some PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections that seem to have helped a lot with the pain. Insurance wouldn’t cover that treatment, though. Apparently they would rather pay for surgery that costs at least 10x more. The PRP treatment involves drawing blood, using a centrifuge to extract platelets, and then re-injecting the platelets into the affected area where they (hopefully) help heal the damaged tissues.

Great news on the aortic aneurysm! Congrats.
When I started learning and practicing the piano, I got terrible pain my hands and wrists from presumably tendonitis.. Picking up a cup of coffee was extraordinarily painful. Regular MDs said Take acetaminophen and stop playing the piano. I then went to an acupuncturist/Chinese medicine practitioner and a couple of treatments totally fixed the problem totally and I kept practicing the piano and keyboards. Just a suggestion --- you know your own body.

Excellent. Why do you have to wait a few weeks to get the injections?
The Bone & Joint Center was REALLY booked up; but, they just had a cancellation for this coming Tuesday, April 2nd. So they contacted me to fill the void...Woo Hooo!
I can at least get my xrays taken, and fully evaluated by their top hand issue specialist.
What sort of injections are you getting in your hand?
Not 100% sure at this point, but educated speculation dictates it would either be methylprednisolone acetate, or triamcinolone hexacetonide; since those are the two most commonly used intra-articular corticosteroids.
Of course, the cocktail mixture in the syringe would also include at least 0.5mL of 1% lidocaine.
NOW, if I could request a SPECIFIC type of injection, with ALL methods & materials being ordered at MY beck & call, it would be as follows:
Utilization of a 3-mL syringe with a 25-gauge 1-inch needle; 10 mg of prednisone equivalents (preferring 10 mg of a nonfluorinated corticosteroid, specifically methylprednisolone), admixed with 0.5 mL of 1% lidocaine.
An ethyl chloride local anesthesic (topical spray) prior to 1-inch needle insertion.
I would want an Intra-Articular style injection since I believe they are more effective, and much longer lasting based on statistics.
However, there are many possible issues that may result from the injection, as well. Hitting the nerve, which would pretty much screw up the thumb on a nearly permanent basis. Or driving the needle into the artery, which would not be much better.
Let's just say that you wouldn't want an intern performing this procedure on you for the very first time.
